Don't Get Angry or Lash Out

When you encounter discrimination, you should write down what happened with as much detail as possible, as soon as you can. The names of the people involved, the date, time, and location of the incident, and any witnesses who were nearby are all things that you should remember and write down. If the discrimination is ongoing, create a journal with all of the above information and add to it as time goes on. One word of warning: "document everything" does not mean record. Laws vary by state, but in some states, it is not legal to record someone without their permission. So, don't go making a secret recording of what your boss said to you because chances are it could get you in trouble as well.
